Congenital heart disease (CHD) can affect between 8-10 cases per 1000 newborns in the world, but corrective heart surgery is not always within a family’s power to provide. Since our founding in 2001, the medical professionals at Helping Hands for Honduras have been focused on working as a multinational team to help precious children in Honduras who otherwise would not have been able to have this necessary and life-changing medical procedure.
Our latest heart mission took place August 13-21, 2021, and consisted of bringing cardiovascular medical teams from the United States, Mexico, El Salvador, and Colombia to Honduran Hospital CEMESA in San Pedro Sula, Cortés. There, these medical professionals gave of their time and medical expertise to help twenty-eight children from across Honduras, performing a cardiac catheterization procedure to correct congenital heart defects.
Helping Hands for Honduras, Inc. is a non-profit, tax-exempt, charitable organization and we are dedicated to providing life-saving medical care to children and young adults. Both we and these childrens’ families are forever grateful to the highly qualified and committed health professionals and medical facilities we are privileged to work with every year.
